Black Manta - A Story Ends?
In a surprising turn of events, Black Manta SNC, one of the most prominent teams in the SLE, has officially dissolved. The dissolution comes after a period of recent struggles and a failure to find the right rhythm, prompting two of the team's pillars, LRAT and Linus, to seek new horizons.
The decision to part ways with Black Manta marks the end of an era in the SLE, where LRAT and Linus had become synonymous with the team's identity. These players, known for their incredible skills and dedication, have decided that their future lies elsewhere.
In a candid interview, Linus expressed his perspective on this significant change, saying, "After nearly three years, a change might be a good thing. I have been really attached to the team, and we put a lot of time into it. Not finding solutions for obvious problems caused a lot of frustration. I struggled a lot recently with many different things in life and decided to step down from the team."
Linus's departure from Black Manta marks a poignant moment in the SLE, as he had been an integral part of the team's identity and success, leading them to a Division 2 Title as the Division 2 MVP. His decision to join the reigning SLE champions, Vitagen, as a substitute, adds an intriguing twist to the story. Vitagen, fresh off their Split 4 victory, is undoubtedly bolstered by the addition of Linus, who brings a wealth of experience and skill to their roster.
As for LRAT, his journey takes him to Japan, where his new life endeavors will make him unable to continue competing in the SLE. His departure leaves a void in Black Manta that will not be easily filled.
The dissolution of Black Manta leaves the fate of the remaining players uncertain. It remains to be seen whether they will continue the legacy of Black Manta or embark on a new journey under a different team name.
This unexpected turn of events in the SLE serves as a reminder of the ever-evolving landscape of esports, where players and teams continually adapt to new challenges and opportunities. As LRAT and Linus depart, they leave behind a legacy of excellence and dedication that will not be forgotten in the SLE community.

In Season 7, League of Legends witnessed a meta that left both players and viewers disheartened. Korean teams, known for their methodical and late-game scaling strategies, dominated the landscape. However, a shift occurred at Worlds, where the Korean meta's slow and steady approach was dethroned by the aggressive and creative playstyles of Chinese teams. This transformation was ignited by players like Khan, the legendary top laner who reshaped how the game was played. Today, embracing early-game aggression is commonplace, and the days of passive handshakes with no kills are a distant memory, which brings us to Split 5 in the SLE where again those 2 Play-Styles find place.
Wacky Wraiths X vs. Good Chi Yin
In this exciting clash, Good Chi Yin entered the fray with Coach Chi Aze stepping in as their jungler. After a strong opening from Wacky Wraiths X, who delivered a creative draft, YIN remained true to their strategy, leading to a snowballing Draven performance that overwhelmed WWX. This intense first game sets a thrilling tone for the upcoming season, with both Wacky Wraiths teams quickly becoming fan favorites.
In Game 2, Zench's exceptional Fiora play became an unstoppable force despite WWX's efforts. While the match didn't go in the wraiths' favor, Epic's performance showcased potential in the top lane. However, Epic faces formidable competitors like Ant, Ruzu, and Zench, making it a challenging journey to reach the upper ranks.

Wacky Wraiths Y vs. Black Manta SNCGame 1 featured an intriguing draft as Wacky Wraiths Y (WWY) displayed their confidence in an aggressive playstyle, picking Rek'Sai into Xayah, which is typically considered a challenging jungle matchup. The early game was tumultuous, with a dragon contest that resembled an outlaw showdown, ultimately favoring WWY as they secured the first drake at the cost of Nennro's life. However, Robbery's life quickly became a target, with BLM looking to cash in on the police's "arrest warrant" for him.
Despite the uncertainties in the early game, KayzMayz and Usejin from WWY managed to carve out significant advantages after the 10-minute mark. The second dragon going to BLM didn't make the outlook any brighter for WWY in terms of an early victory.
However, a turning point arrived at the 20-minute mark when WWY capitalized on a pick against Linus, BLM's top laner. This led to a successful Baron capture following a chaotic teamfight in the river. A pivotal factor in this success was Usejin's exceptional engage, resulting in a two-man knock-up and effectively zoning out the enemy ADC.
The game ultimately concluded at the 27-minute mark, with WWY securing their second Baron thanks to a well-executed catch by Robbery and Usejin. This strategic maneuver paved the way for their victory.
Note to self 2: Don’t give Firefrost Ashe
Black Manta vs. Runtime
The showdown between Black Manta and Runtime promised to be a classic SLE matchup, with BLM eager to turn their fortune around after a series of challenging showmatches.
Game 1: From the outset, both teams engaged in a bloodthirsty brawl. While BLM managed to amass a minor gold lead despite trailing two drakes, Runtime seized the advantage at 17 minutes with Fire's game-changing bladecaller on Xayah. This pivotal moment put Runtime in the driver's seat, and they raced to secure a win in the first game. Notably, the top and mid players of Runtime ended the game with impressive kill counts of 10 and 13, respectively.
Game 2: Things appeared bleak for BLM as their seasoned captain, Linus, faced mounting pressure from a dominant 2-0 Kennen. However, BLM showcased exceptional teamfighting and remarkable plays from their ADC, Chwischi, which disrupted Runtime's plans for an easy game two victory. Despite their valiant efforts, the relentless pressure from Runtime ultimately proved too much, leading to another victory for the Runtime squad.
Game 3: Just as the outlook appeared darkest for BLM, something remarkable occurred. A series of early plays orchestrated by LRAT in the jungle ignited a snowball effect that awakened the Manta. In the ensuing minutes, BLM seized control of the game, achieving remarkable feats such as Linus securing a kill in a 1v2 situation top lane and Denzer dazzling with his Orianna plays. By 16 minutes, BLM had amassed a substantial 6k gold lead with two drakes in their possession. Aside from a few early mishaps and the loss of a single tower, BLM nearly achieved a perfect game. The question now looms: Is this the turning point for BLM? Are they prepared to demonstrate to the newcomers of the league why they have been a mainstay in the SLE?
Panini's Closing Thoughts on SLE Split 5
With several SLE teams already revealing their strengths, and hopefully more to follow, the excitement for the upcoming league grind is building. Newcomers like Project Imperior, Shadow Wizards, and Greasy Goblins are eager to make their mark on the SLE stage, while the seasoned giants of the league contemplate potential roster shake-ups.
In our humble and unbiased opinion, the Goblin army is poised to make a significant impact. As we eagerly anticipate the approaching split, we encourage everyone to stay hydrated and savor the last days of summer. Autumn is on the horizon, bringing with it another thrilling SLE season that's just around the corner.
